It’s an “all in one” website creator. It’s user interface or UI is created with the non-techie in mind so you can pick and choose colors, images and an overall theme from their collection of themes/templates. Sounds GREAT right? Well, with that comes a lot of limitations BUT let’s be honest if you’re using a website builder and doing it yourself then you’re probably not missing the many other things creating your website in let’s say WordPress would provide you but if you’re serious about your business then this is one of your most important investments.
One of the biggest CONS to using a website builder that many of my clients of discovered way too late and after MANY hours of work on their website design is that you are paying these website builder providers to not only host your website but to use their templates and their interface and you can NOT export it and use it in another builder OR convert it to a WordPress website. Therefore, if you outgrow the limited website builder you can not keep your work and build on that on a new platform, so really it was never YOUR website to do what you want.
Popular Website Builders: Wix, SquareSpace, Godaddy’s GoCentral Website Builder, Weebly, Shopify.
